Mai Xu received B.S. degree from Beihang University in 2003, M.S. degree from Tsinghua University in 2006 and Ph.D degree from Imperial College London in 2010 (supervised by Prof. Maria Petrou, Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering). From 2010-2012, he was working as a research fellow at Wireless Multimedia Lab (Supervised by Prof. Jianhua Lu, Fellow of Chinese Academy of Sciences), Tsinghua University. Currently, Dr. Xu is an associate professor of Beihang University. During 2014-2015, he is a visiting scholar of MSRA. During 2014 to 2015, he was a visiting researcher of MSRA. His research interests mainly include image processing and computer vision. He has published more than 70 technical papers in international journals and conference proceedings, e.g., IEEE TIP, TMM, TCSVT, CVPR, ICCV and DCC. He is the recipient of best paper awards of two IEEE conferences, and best paper award nomination of IEEE ICME and TCSVT.

2003年毕业于北京航空航天大学，获学士学位；2006年毕业清华大学，获硕士学位；2010年毕业伦敦帝国理工学院（导师：Maria Petrou，英国皇家工程院院士）；2010-2012年在清华大学大学无线多媒体实验室从事博士后研究工作（导师：陆建华，中国科学院院士）。2013年入选北京航空航天大学“卓越百人”青年人才引进计划，加入北京航空航天大学。2014年入选微软亚洲研究院青年教师铸星计划，2015年获ICCV（CCF A 类会议）青年学者奖，2016年获教育部霍英东青年基金资助，2017年获人工智能学会技术发明一等奖（第二完成人），2018年获中国电子学会优秀科技工作者。研究兴趣为视频通信与图像处理。学术方面：近五年，在IEEE Transactions等国际顶级期刊及CVPR、ICCV、DCC、ICME等顶级会议上发表论文70余篇（均为SCI/EI检索），其中SCI检索30+篇（JCR1区20+篇），Google学术他引600+次。获IEEE视频处理领域顶级期刊IEEE TCSVT最佳论文奖提名1次，获IEEE国际会议最佳论文奖2次，会议最佳论文提名1项。作为负责人承担项目10项，其中国家自然科学基金2项（面上、青年各1项），863项目3项；作为研究骨干参与项目2项，其中973项目1项（牵头单位），欧盟FP6项目1项。2013年起承担本科生“数字图像处理”及研究生“机器学习”、“科技论文写作”教学工作，2014年获北京航空航天大学“我爱我师”十佳教师奖。指导的本科生获北航“金质奖章”1人，北航优秀本科毕业设计3人次。指导的研究生获中国电子学会优秀硕士论文提名奖，北航“研究生十佳”2人、提名1人，北航优秀硕士毕业论文3人，国家奖学金5人，北航研究生优秀学术论文提名6人次。
